Stonecroft Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Sam Kim
February 2010
94 - 5 Stars
As usual, Stonecroft Sauvignon Blanc is one of New Zealand's most distinctive, delectable and lovely wines. Not because it is a great alternative to the classic Marlborough model but this is a great wine which happens to be made from Sauvignon grape. The bouquet is ripe and subtly herbal displaying stonefruit, citrus and dried herb characters with a hint of chalky notes. The palate is concentrated and richly textured with excellent weight and well pitched acidity. A very stylish Sauvignon. Grapes were sourced from Te Mata's Woodthorpe Vineyard. At its best: now to 2014. $20.00 12.5% Diam cork.
